Malkit Singh immigrated from India to the U.S. in 2007. With only $3,000 in hand, his wife and their six-month-old son, Malkit was determined to take his dreams from fiction to reality with a retail opportunity that materialized in Maryland’s Prince George’s County. While living in a basement for a short time, he worked tirelessly at a local store to learn the liquor store business and move his family into their own apartment. After one year in this initial venture, Malkit began working at another liquor store, where he would spend the next seven years immersing himself in the industry. In 2013, Malkit entered business ownership as a partner at a store located on Connecticut Avenue in NW Washington, DC. After selling his shares to his partner, he parlayed those funds and 16 years of experience into another liquor store venture in Chevy Chase, Washington DC, where he is the proud owner of Chevy Chase Wine and Spirits. Malkit continues to thrive and serve the community that welcomed him so many years ago.
